Well here it is, and I think it looks the nuts... It plays like a dream as well... Think it may be a contender for number 1.

    Specs are:

    2 piece swamp ash body.
A stunning all rosewood neck from @GSPBASSES very chunky profile, (like a cricket bat with strings).
Clear blonde Nitro supplied by @SteveRobinson .

    vintage style tuners.
    CTS and spragues.
    Lindy Fralin neck pup.
Fender CS 57's mid and bridge.

Lovely. What did you finish the neck with in the end? It looks very glossy.

Its had a very light pass on the back with your clear coat... its not as glossy in the flesh :) and it'll wear through very quickly after a few gigs...

@poopot, none of your pics show on my iPad. Just a little square box where the top left edge of the pic should be.

Thanks all... as good as it plays I’ve hit a slight problem... the neck pocket is about 1.5mm too shallow, coupled with the jumbo frets on the neck means that the neck is sitting just that little bit too high... the bridge saddles are maxed out...

its in with Charlie chandler have a few mm shaved off the pocket just to sort the geometry out...

this is is the second body I have had from this particular company that has had a wrong neck pocket, the first one was too deep and the pocket needed shimming!... and they CNC the bodies apparently!....

    Gorgeous! well done sir!

I have a guitarbuild strat body with a pocket slightly too highh imI terrified of mucking it up, it plays beautifully but like yours the saddles are maxed out so there's no room for adjuadjust.

You have two choices... shave the heel of the neck or route out the pocket.

can I ask, did you buy direct from them or get one from their eBay shop?

It was from Booboo Guitars, a one piece ash body with a tiny router mark in the spring cavity ;)

Problem solved... the neck pocket was actually slightly shallower than spec, .644in as opposed to .677in (62 strat). However the heel on the neck (and I did ask for chunky) measured at 1.042in.

The thickness of the heel, jumbo frets and the slightly shallower neck pocket meant the bridge saddles were maxed out and the action was way too low.

the situation was sorted by milling .050in from the heel of the neck...

Guitar is back together and all is right with the world... it’s off being plek’d at the moment... really can’t wait to get it back!...

Excellent, glad you sorted it out.
You inspired me to get off the my arse and sort mine out, a s8mple shim at the neck end of the pocket dropped the saddles by half, also sort3d out my mistake on the 5way wiring. Happy daus.

@poopot So I have a couple of questions. Apologies for the apparently dum ass nature of these questions. It's a bit embarrassing as i feel I should know the answers to these questions but I don't.

Q1. Scale length. So I get the fact that different guitars have different scale lengths. If you plan to do a strat, do you need to specify things like the exact position of the holes for the bridge plate (I would guess they are so generic, any variation is taken out with the longitudinal adjustment in the bridge saddle) and the neck pocket or is the strat body so generic they all just 'work'

Q2. You show you are having to have the neck shaved so it sits lower in the pocket. was this down to the body manufacturer supplying something out of tolerance or is it a case that one of the inherent jobs in assembly is to either shim or shave the neck to get the correct fit?

thanks  in advance for indulging me but the end result looks so good I might have a go.... And that's scary!
