Back in the Workshop

I'm back in the workshop at long last, it's been nearly 8 weeks since I made anything. I'm not back to full health yet, but can't sit around any more. The hospital are waiting to see the medication will solve the problem, but it will be 12 to 16 weeks. if it hasn't gone away by then it will be on the operating table for me (the joys of getting old).

This week I've managed to do 3 to 4 hours a day, I think that will be my limit for some time to come. So I decided to finish off a few jobs I started last November. These were nearly all finished anyway, so didn't take a lot time to complete them, see photos below.

This is a Les Paul Junior DC with a solid rosewood neck.

A thin line 52 P Bass fully chambered with a F hole, the body only weighs a fraction over 3 lb.

Very standard Swamp Ash telecaster with a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.

A solid rosewood neck for a Strat belonging to @poopot .

    Welcome back Graham.

I can say, from experience, that hospital ops are no fun.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Glad to hear you're back to the workshop Graham, hope you can avoid surgery. I just got round to putting some finish on the mahogany Jazzmaster I got from you before Xmas. It looks like a one piece body?! Lovely stuff and it's caused a bit of a storm of offsetguitars. Hoping to keep it for myself, just love the mahogany. Your solid rosewood neck really got me drooling too...

Second week back in the workshop, most of the time was spent preparing and gluing up wood for the next lot of builds plus finishing off a P bass I started some time ago.

Much to my better judgement I've agreed to make a Les Paul custom, I will make two of them in case I cock one up. I only decided to do these because @WezV told us where to get the multicoloured binding, so if it all goes pear-shaped I know to blame. The photos show how I've chambered the bodies and glued on the caps, the caps are plain maple as the guitars are going to be black. I also started a third Les Paul that is going to be much thinner than normal as it's going to have a tremolo, it’s only going to be 45mm thick in total, so I decided not to chamber it.

Also restarted work on the three mahogany Jazzmaster's. I did start these at the end of November but didn't get very far. I'm also going to complete a fourth Jazzmaster that will have a roasted flame maple neck.

3 Mahogany bodies, plus one Alder. 1 roasted flame maple neck, 3 Mahogany necks with very dark Rosewood fingerboards.

Managed to track down really nice, very dark Rosewood fingerboard, they were a bit pricey, but they are so nice and so dark I just had to buy them.

I will accept the blame ;)

i did full depth channels on mine, but I reckon if i was doing it again I would rip the 6mm multilam binding in half and do a stepped channel

I bent the top strips today and will hopefully get them glued in place tomorrow.
