Sylvian made one collaborative album and tour with Robert Fripp.

My favourite song that the Japan lot did between them was this.

    Be seeing you.

Adolescent Sex is a marvellous album I have it on vinyl still gets a regular listen.
I bought it many, many years ago because I imagined they'd be like the New York Dolls or something.  Never particularly got into it, but it's very different from (and more guitary than) their later more famous stuff.

  • So, on to a little of David Sylvian's albums in the wake of Japan's breakup...

They start to get a little too "atmospheric" for my taste as time goes on, but I'll post a link to David's YT channel later on if anyone wants to explore his catalogue further.

    Oil on Canvas :)

wasnt Sylvian the “most beautiful man in the world” ?  Not my descriptor (is that a word?) but was used a lot in the early 80s about him?
and then he had an accident ? Am I remembering that right?

And presumably “Forbidden Colours” you are about to mention ? :)

  • Bloody hell, had no idea they were from Catford. That's my old neck of the woods and it's hard to believe such a glamorous/arty band came from somewhere so 'naff'

I'll answer my own question: it was Mick Karn

    Great album that.
Yes that's what was said about him back then.
Not sure about the accident, maybe someone else has some insight into that ?

Big thanks to @EricTheWeary for bringing Gone to Earth to my attention in an earlier post.  It is quite magnificent IMHO, although the second CD is maybe a little to atmospheric for me, the first one has some great tracks on it,  Lovely synth pads and textures too.  Thanks  :)

Mine is just the first cd, I've never heard the second - I wonder when they added that.
