Cool headstock decal idea?

I'm just starting on a new partscaster, a  HSS Strat.

My last Tele build proudly displayed a Fecker Testicaster logo, which was good for a laugh. However, I'm wondering about taking a slightly more mature approach this time...

Any ideas?

  • Why not just go with Fecker Stwatocaster?

  • Fancy up your signature then do it with a Sharpie on the headstock. If anyone asks it's then your own signature model. Works for PRS

  • Wow, a Pete Cornish strat
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Yeah, I think that might be the way to go.

It's really difficult to come up with something that initially sounds good, but will still seem good a few months later, I'm struggling with one of mine.....

Lets put it this way, I'm planning on putting several coats of gloss before the decal, Worst case I can always refinish it!

To be fair, 'synthesised toblerone' makes just as much sense as ' synchronised tremolo' to describe a spring loaded vibrato. =)

It's the catch 22 I had. originally went for Fender decal, felt wrong, looked bad empty, ordered the above when drunk.

It's a minefield- I like the idea of signing it with a sharpie.

I've agonized what to put on two Strats and a Junior I've built. But in the end i just left them blank. Doesn't look as odd as I thought and gives them an air of mystery. I get people asking about them and wanting a go which is nice:)

  • I can’t find a clear image but I always liked the Alex Lifeson Sportscaster one.

I umm'd and ahh'd about a decal for my 'caster for ages but decided everything i tried looked out of place or the wording was just meaningless or daft, went with no decal in the end, I ththi it looks better tbh.

If I were doing a strat partscaster I’d be tempted to put on a decal saying

    Gibson Les Paul*

    * may be a fake

I toyed with the idea of adding a little picture of Bender on there, but this is a bit more faithful to the original.  That is Bender's actual serial number...
