More monthly features

What's Hot
Following on from Rotm and Sotm i thought it might be nice to introduce some new monthly features, for instance

Tones in the studio:
Where we provide an example of a recorded tone and discuss how we went about getting it.

Amps. Reverbs settings Eq:
Another monthly example of how to set up an amp for ideal tone, featuring a different ckassic amp each month.

Compressors up nobodys tone:
A discussion on the dividing subject of compressors and how to use them with monthly examples.

Sounds like a good idea. A focused monthly discussion. Perhaps more for the studio & recording section of the forum.

Another idea could be a reamp/virtual amp challenge? Someone can post a dry guitar riff (with or without a backing track to accompany it) with a genre in mind. We then use whatever approach we like to get the "best"  tone from that track, and discuss our approaches.

Thanks dude :) yours is actually a really good idea, mine was simply to make rude acronyms which appear to have been far too highbrow for anyone to understand ;)

The "how we made the recording" concept presupposes that others desire to replicate the recorded tone under discussion. This is already available in the pages of Sound On Sound magazine.

Ideal is always subjective. Amp set-up is just one part of how a recorded guitar will sound. The playing techniques of one guitarist through the rig of another might not yield the results that you expect.
    Be seeing you.
