Anyone connected their old firewire interface to a newer mac thunderbolt?

I was hoping to use my firewire audio interface on a newer iMac, but good old apple only have usb and thunderbolt now. I looked at a firewire to Thunderbolt cable, but they are pretty expensive and I get the impression that maybe they don't even work for this application. Some text says that they are just 'one way' as a connector.

Anyone done this?

My Presonus 1602 works perfectly with my 2015 MacBook Pro, no issues at all, it also was fine with my Digidesign 003r

    Yes works fine.

My Apogee Rosetta works fine through a FW to TB2 adapter.
It will even work on a newer TB3 computer using a FW->TB2 and a TB2->TB3 adaptor in series.

I used both an adapter and a hub, no issues whatsoever
