My Life As A One-Man Band ~ Tommy Emmanuel ~ TEDxMelbourne

Tommy Emmanuel created a life for himself as a one-man band and has become one of Australia's most respected musicians. With light vim and pure talent, he demonstrates his unique playing style, which is notably a development of the Travis picking technique and blending of rhythm and melody.

In his career, he's played on recordings for Air Supply and Men at Work and in his twenties he joined one of Australia's biggest rock acts, Dragon. Now, as a two-time Grammy nominee with a career spanning five decades, he has, for several years, performed over 300 concerts annually.

Does anyone know what software program Beato is using to isolate parts of the track? For example, he often will isolate just the guitar or drums only like he has a mixing desk on his pc.
That's exactly what he has @Steve-O ! Over the years, Rick has acquired the individual tracks for hundreds of tunes.

Cheers @digitalkettle I had a feeling that it was all original rather than a clever software solution.  It would be great if you could get that level of isolation though.  I guess it is only a matter of time until someone applies AI to the problem.

Thank you so much for the Fleetwood Mac link, excellent :)

Really enjoying these. Watched a Van Halen one last night (running with the devil) always great to hear Eddie’s playing in isolation, and that trick with the reverb panned hard to one side...brilliant.

Also really enjoyed the Fleetwood Mac one, i’d never noticed those long feedback notes in the second verse until he pointed them out.

There’s a really long ‘live’ episode of this discussing Every Breath you Take by the Police which is fascinating

...after watching the Police one I had vague recollections of hearing the alternative vocals before that are hidden in the master tracks....Rick talks about them being scratch vocals, but it was for Spitting Image

Huge fan of Rick Beato, his  theory vids can be hard work as he assumes that you have a certain level of musical theory under your fingertips but they are an excellent resource and I find them quite inspiring tbh

I've watched a lot of Rick's content too... thanks for alerting us to him Chris.

I particularly like Sounding Off as well as this series. I very much recommend the Holdsworth tribute and Jeff Berlin episodes.
