Otherwise known as Tim Bergling...

Probably not on most people's radar here, but I liked a lot of his stuff.

Only 28 :(.

    I'm speechless.

He was one of my favourite DJs, and I loved his more acoustic stuff.

  • Fucking hell -28.  Wouldn't know him if he bit me on the arse, but saw a Nile Rodgers documentary where he explained Avicii's method of composing by computer that was completely different to Nile's.

iIRC he said "lock us in a room and we'll write the entire top 20."

Levels was incredible for the time.
He had long standing drinking issues so I won't be surprised to see that this was drink/drugs related.

    RIP.

Listened to all of his stuff whilst ferrying my kids to Gigs, they both saw him a few times, very talented and a terrible loss :(

Really gutted than Tim Bergling, AKA Avicii has passed at the age of 28.

He really was a special artist and very original and, for a DJ/Producer, he covered so many genres.

Not many modern artists I really respect but he was one, and a great humanitarian too who gave a lot of money to charity

    Far too young

Absolutely loved him. I always thought there was a lot of Floyd influence in what he does with samples, songs and others' voices.

I mean no disrespect by saying this, it's just proof that I'm getting old, but this is the first time a death has received major coverage on TV, radio and the internet and I've never heard of the guy before.

Same here, so I checked out his music compilation on the bbc and the 4 or so songs in the compilation all sounded similar and like bog standard ‘Boom Boom Boom’ dance music... I must be old....
    Karma......

Although EDM was his genre, as @Gassage says, he took inspiration from many different genres, which is why I think he was as successful as he was.

I had his Spotify tracks on shuffle today while driving. Some are brilliant. Some I just laugh at. And I heard a few I never knew he'd released.
Wake Me Up reggae mix is worth a listen just for the contrast to the standard version, and Street Fighter takes inspiration from 80s TV theme tunes and I just laugh when I hear it start. I Could Be The One has very little mixing, and you would never know he'd produced it just by listening.
What I liked about Avicii, was he wasn't afraid about releasing things that were in contrast to what him popular.

You really need to check his albums out. He was absolutely bloody brilliant.

This is one of my faves, and he wrote a lot of the stuff himself. Talented kid.

@p90fool covered this last night, I think.

Yeah we did, it was actually quite an emotional moment for us and the audience.

This is the sort of stuff we like to cover tbh, we're a pub guitar band but none of us really like anything from the standard pub guitar band repertoire, although we have to chuck in the odd one or two.

Tim Bergling was one of those rare artists whose next move would've always been interesting and surprising, and I suspect he would've aged very well as a musician.

A genuinely sad loss, and not just to his family.

    Sadly looking like suicide :(.

If so it goes to show that all the talent, success, approval and money anyone could want doesn't help with what's on the inside.
