Atomic Amplifire AA6

Just got one of those new Atomic Amplifire 6.

Sound as good as (dare to say maybe better!?) my previous AX8.
It's definitely less powerful and featured but it sounds pretty good, specially edge of break-up - something it took me a huge amount of time to get it right before. It also has headphone out + gapless preset changing.

FXs are nothing as comprehensive as the AX8 obviously but I'm actually enjoying the simplicity..
One of the best things: it fits on my gigbag!

Congrats - I have an Amplifire 12 and it's a brilliant piece of kit.

If you haven't done so already, download the free presets from the Atomic site. The Singtall ones are pretty good and include some really nice IRs. http://atomicamps.com/atomic-amps-support/

For effects advice, I'd recommend you make your way over to the atomic forum and pick up a couple of the threads there....

This is worth a read too...

I got the AA3 recently as it's small and I wanted a desktop modeller for recording and headphone practice, like the old POD bean, I'm not arsed about footswitches as I don't use it on the floor and edit via Mac so it's perfect for my needs.

I was pleasantly surprised with the high quality of the sound and the level of control in the editor over the effects parameters.

There may be less models and less effects that AX & Helix but I don't see that as a bad thing at all, however, I really wish the editors for these modellers had a tuner built in to the editing interface though so you can tune via the computer screen!

Thanks for the links @NelsonP , was aware of one of tem but not the other reg delays! Quite a good reading :) when I had the AX8 I was only using a few presets so it always felt a bit overkill for my use. The AA6 instead fits very well

I think the amplifire sounds awesome.    I’ve found the 3 button version is fine with the clever way you can assign the switches to effects and presets but I can see the 6 button one makes a lot of sense.    Mine has been sat unused as a back up for the ax8 but Its a close run thing for which sounds better.

Great experience for me yesterday! Decided not to take my QSC K8 to practice as was commuting by train and just plugged the AA6 direct into the mixing desk.

With just a few small tweaks I was up and running. That would never happen with the AX8 .. I'd be spending half of the night trying to EQ the amps.. not sure why but the front panel knobs don't really react like an amp would be (at least for me) while the AA6 is dead straight easy! The whole band was happy with levels and tone!
