    when it's back up and running plug into the high input, preamp on about 7, volume on about 3, stick a TS9/SD1/RAT in front and get ready for some fun :)

    Love these amps, the 2104 was the first proper marshall I played and it's just an amazing tone.

    Fixed that for you ;).

    @robinbowes I have three or four 500 Bullets, depending on how you count the bits. :)
    I usually rebuild them in a different style every year;

    @ICBM I need to do this right, especially as it isn't mine, so I'll pop it round to my amp guy once I've cleaned it up and we'll power it up together.

    I'm capable of doing whatever work is needed to a high standard but I'm a bit "parrot fashion" - I spent years building complex circuits in the meteorological industry but was not a troubleshooter and I don't have the equipment anyway.

    I'll let you know what happens!

    Might it be a 2144?
    It’s not a 2144, those have seven knobs and reverb.

    Those Daly caps rarely need swopping out unless they’re close to spewing up, just bring them up slowly. Bias caps should be replaced though.

    Needs a new set of EL34s though, and a thorough safety check inside and out

    Aha, custom builds - that's why I was struggling. And presumably, modern bikes rather than vintage?

    My Dad is a BSA nut; he's restored several, mostly Gold Star variants.

    I couldn't see the top of those on Aynsley's page. Besides, I suppose you would know his amps better than most.

    Might it be a 2144? Aynsley Lister has a couple of those - http://www.aynsleylister.co.uk/index.php/about/the-gear/aynsley-lister#. Sometimes people who go on his guitar weekends buy the same kit as him and there might be talk on their value on his facebook tuition group.
    Nope 2144 has reverb. This doesn't.  Very different circuit too  the 2144. Rocking horse shit rare.

    Also stupidly heavy and not as good-sounding as the 2104...

    It lives! Still bits and pieces to sort out and I have to rewire the cabinet and check the speakers, but it's a glorious thing at high volume!
