Two. Both Precisions. I can't find anything else that really works the same way.

MInd you one of them is the aforementioned 32" scale '80s Squier. It is rather nice.

It is surprising how much difference that 3/4” shorter scale makes - I find a 34” just slightly too long for my little girly hands :), but the Rick is perfect.

There are quite a lot of decent 1970s Japanese 4001 copies out there - the difficulty is finding them for sale. They’re usually good quality - at least apart from the machineheads - if you avoid the bolt-on neck ones. A very few even have double truss rods. I borrowed a nice Shaftesbury one while I was looking for a real Rick, and it was quite close to be honest...

The modern copies aren’t in the same league though.

Some of the older Japanese stuff looks quite interesting.  There were some 80's Japanese made Fenders (and maybe JV Squiers) that were medium scale.  Westone had one or two models with a scale around 32", and I think there were some Aria basses with 32" scale as well.  The problem is finding one for sale that isn't at an inflated price.
I once had a Fernandes bass with a 32" scale. it looked like a Precision with an ash body and clear plastic scratchplate, but it also had a Jazz pickup, they were actives I think.  I never did figure out what model it actually was, but I'd guess it was late 80s and MIJ.

Weighed a ton though, I used to lose my balance if I leaned over to pick it up.

Which doesn't help much, but I guess there may be more of them out there somewhere.

1, a Yamaha BeX4, purely for occasional bottom end forays. I call it anemia-burst, not a looker, sounds are good though.

Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

Thing is I don’t know what I’d use it for other than to look at and caress at home every now and then..

@Bridgehouse You say that as if that weren't a perfectly valid reason to own an instrument.

I’m not saying it isn’t - but a bass like that needs to be played and used and recorded... I’ve got too many that need to be played already!

    2, but I'm "only" a guitarist
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself
