The subtext of nihilistic rage in this song can be a bit overwhelming sometimes.

If you can read this then my time machine works.

  • Frank Carter does a fantastic line in vitriolic songs.
Grey Britain by Gallows is furious throughout- think Sex Pistols playing Sabbath.

The first time I heard this solo track I was astonished. It’s VERY simple and VERY angry.

Cathal Coughlan, of the Fatima Mansions, is my go-to guy for music awash with anger.  Viva Dead Ponies is a belter of an album, every song laced with venom and rage and the musical diversity and moments of beauty give it the depth to make it enduringly listenable, where most 'angry' music gets tiresome (to anyone but teenagers) very quickly.

Mention of Dylan reminds me of "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" - that's angry in anybody's book.

Some of the protest songs are so full of anger. I get that metal etc is "angry" music, but its almost like pretend angry. When people had something to be properly angry about, even though they are usually just a person with an acoustic guitar, there is a lot more anger there than metal band X "singing" about how they are so totally angry with stuff they are totally going to definitely strangle you with your intestines.

Obviously not always the case, but in 9 times out of 10. :)

Hurricane by Dylan. Anger that’s ferocious but purposeful and controlled.

This also one of the angriest performances ever - the song itself is quite angry anyway, but on this particular night he really had something to say... it was after the Enniskillen bombing earlier that day.

Bono may be a self-righteous twat most of the times he talks about politics, but not this one.

Agree with this. Something like this seems more 'authentically' angry than a lot of the ultra-heavy shouty metal stuff...

This strikes me as being somewhat angry, probably rightly so
