Your mockup looks like a Bo Diddley Tele!
Nice project, wish I has the skills
Which reminded me of a sales training course I attended many years ago (I worked in technical sales support for a computer vendor). The trainer asked us how we prepared for our first ever customer visit - and the answers went something like: research the customer (e.g. car design), what do they use computers for today (e.g. CAD, aerodynamics design, structural analysis, crash simulations), whose computers do they use today, who are your competitors, etc...
He then asked how the more experienced staff prepared for a customer visit. And the answer was more or less - jump in a car with the salesman and ask "Where are we going today, boss?"
Complacency had set in - and perhaps it has in my guitar builds. So although I'm building a Tele and we all know what a Tele looks like, I'm going to revisit the @Mark_Bailey guitar design and build courses and follow every step before I start making sawdust.

Here the truss rod slot has been routed.

Now the neck has been roughly cut to shape.

I forgot to take a photo after the neck profile had been routed, but here the fretboard has been glued in place.

Every step has been checked against Mark Bailey's guitar building videos.

Only problem I had was that the neck template (secured by doubled sided sticky tape) didn't want to disconnect from the neck blank.

Fretboard radiused to 12in - just for a change.
The birds eye maple fretboard is looking rather good.
Nut is perhaps 1mm too high, but I can fix that by sanding the bottom of the nut or working on the slots.
Working on the headstock and neck...

...starting to look a bit like a guitar neck.

...after bandsaw, routing and rough sanding...

The side grain looks interesting, I hope I can bring this out...

Still a long way to go, but it's starting to look like a guitar...

Anyway - on with the build. First job was to thickness the body to 45mm...

...and sand that flat...

...then round the edges...

... and rout the cavities.

Neck pocket seems ok.

I then applied stained pore filler...

When this has dried I'll sand most of it off - hopefully leaving slightly darker grain to show through the blonde finish.
