A light tint I say, just knock a little of the whiteness off it...

Coating blonde in an aged tint can yield some very satisfying results

I have a tinted clear winging its way to me... my worry is that I get a patchy or uneven finish... I have been assured tho’ that even a ham fisted gimp like me will be ok!.

any advice on stripping a poly neck? Don’t really need to refinish it but I think once the body has had some aging the poly neck going to look a little out of place!...

edit- ps, got a full refund on the boat anchor in the end :) and just repaired the body existing body!...

The idea is not to get a uniformed look. It keeps it looking natural. The only thing I will say is I never do equal or even coats with my tinting.

    Yip...

    1. Buy a pack of Stanley blades
    2. Put some good tunes on
    3. Pour yourself a beer

Your best bet is to scrape that poly off. It’ll take a while but it’ll be worth it

Good call on the body, I’m glad you got it sorted.

Point 1 is the most important bit.  You can do it with 1 blade but it will get hard going and you are more likely to cause damage.

Change for a fresh blade regularly.

Definitely. And if you don’t go through 5 blades in the process you’ll end up sanding out scratches for a year.

This is the one I’m overhauling just now...

And yes, it was given a full fret dress!

Currently drying out before wet sanding, buffing and ageing.

The took a lot of time to strip but it’s looking good with a little reshaping too.

On the neck front mine went from this:

To this via a lot of blades.. (you can see the diff as in this pic the headstock was yet to be done)

Feel the pain, this was/is not a fun job...

Ok... think we are getting somewhere now...

body painted, doesn’t look quite right with the Bakelite guard tho’

Body is a bit too too pale to pull it off.. so a callaham parchment guard was blagged from the bay... looks better with white methinks...

In the meantime @TheGuitarWeasel wound me a rather lovely looking pickup for the bridge and I managed to find something I remember being a bit special in the shed...

Just got to bolt it all back back together now!!!
