I think Prequelle is the only album i've bought in 2018 that was released in 2018.. so that! :)

I've really enjoyed Courtney Barnett's latest album. I'd only heard of her previously, not actually listened, and it's brilliant.

Tropical Fuck Storm - A Laughing Death In Meatspace
Never heard of them, but definitely wins title and band name of the year in my book.

Aussies.  Ex-members of The Drones.  Wordy post-punk noiseniks.  Good stuff if that kind of thing's your bag.

Courtney Marie Andrews : May Your Kindness Remain.

     Camila Cabello :Camila.

     Bill Frisell : Music Is.

     Julian Lage  : Modern Lore.

Not new, but a bargain (think it cost me a fiver or so in HMV)  - 5 CD Box from Blue Note of 5 Kenny Burrell Albums.

Zeal & Ardor's Strange Fruit is awesome, just been giving it a listen. Never heard of them before last week when I saw them on the download line up. Now wishing I'd gone to see them!

Can't get into the new Arctic Monkeys but then again I think they've been a bit shit since Favourite Worst Nightmare, after which it feels like one of those instances where they matured and lost that thing that made them special in the first place. I preferred Alex Turner as a mouthy gobshite singer rather than whatever he's trying to do now.

Looking through my "recently played" on Spotify and it seems to be all old albums...Dinosaur Jr/Steely Dan/Anthony Hamilton/ Tracy Chapman/Taking Back Sunday/Michael Jackson.

    The only album that I have listened to a lot, released this year is;
The Wonder Years - Sister Cites

Boss Keloid - Melted On The Inch
    Conjurer - Mire
COC - No Cross No Crown
    Awooga - Conduit
    Slugdge - Esoteric Malacology
Zeal & Ardor - Srange Fruit

Lots of good stuff so far this year but these stand out.
Not commenting on the music at all, but one thing that strikes me is that all the good band names were already taken quite some time ago.

I'd say the only dodgy name out of that list is Awooga - which is a little misleading as they're actually an ace heavy rock/stoner metal band from Sheffield with big choruses and spacey psychedelic bits. Not sure how big a fan they are of John Fashanu though.

Better than being called 'The The' I suppose.
