NPD - 8 Step Program

Paul_CPaul_C Frets: 7671

This little box of fun replaces an expression pedal with an 8 step sequencer, with sliders to set the position for each step.

It means it can do things with more precision than would be possible without a lot of practice and some serious training to match the higher speeds ;)

I've tried it out with my Count To 5s, BitQuests, Particle, Grazer and Rainbow Machine and it adds another dimension to all of them when it comes to the noises they can make.

It's one of those pedals that makes you think "I wish I'd bought one sooner".

I had a look at one of them for use with my Helix. It was very tempting.

Might I suggest that a Source Audio Reflex might float your boat? Expression pedal with onboard LFOs which you can adjust with the pedal, and it can control a whole load of things at the same time.

Someone else mentioned that, so I might have to add one to my wishlist.

My only fear with this is that the way it works might be putting extra voltage through the pedal and therefore might blow it up.

There's no voltage on the expression outputs. Unless you set them as CV out.

I cannot get mine to work with helix at all. But for standalone stomps the ehx 8 step is a lot of fun.

Ah - I think I read Paul's post backwards. If the 8 Step is CV only then it wouldn't work with the Helix.

The 8 Step does CV and expression pedal out of the same socket, T/S for CV and T/R/S for expression, but even with the exp there is voltage involved.

Helix is volt-free TS only, I think.

Always wanted to try on of these with a Freeze and a Pitch Fork.. freeze a note and then create looping melodies or basslines with the sliders!

What a great idea :) - I have a Pitch Fork but hadn't got round to trying it yet - I also have a Miku plugged into a feedback looper ;)

Just had a quick blast and it's great fun !
