A TRIBUTE FROM
MICK FLEETWOOD AND FLEETWOOD MAC

Today was greeted by the sad news of the passing of Danny Kirwan in London, England. Danny was a huge force in our early years. His love for the Blues led him to being asked to join Fleetwood Mac in 1968, where he made his musical home for many years.

Danny’s true legacy, in my mind, will forever live on in the music he wrote and played so beautifully as a part of the foundation of Fleetwood Mac, that has now endured for over fifty years.
Thank you, Danny Kirwan. You will forever be missed!

Amazed it hadn’t happened sooner but sad all the same. He was a stunning player in his youth and I’ve often thought losing him and his music to such debilitating alcoholism was a great tragedy.

RIP Danny. He was a big influence on me when I was in my obsessive Mac/Bluesbreakers phase. He seemed to give the band an extra couple of gears for Peter to expand into.

Found out today Danny Kirwan had died, such a shame. Great talent alongside Peter Green in Fleetwood Mac, love his playing.

Only just heard via e-mail from a friend - Almost nothing, or totally nothing, in the main stream media on this - I was to young to be aware of Fleetwood Mac first time round, so I've picked it up retrospectively, as per Jimi + Kossoff - So glad I was able to appreciate what they gave the guitar world via many recordings and video clips - RIP

RIP Danny. Kick some butt up there and have a ball.

Then Play On has some great tracks from Danny and is my favourite Mac album.

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

A vital element of the original Fleetwood Mac - a great loss.

Terrible news - a great player but such a sad life story.

I’ll never get the vibrato right on The Oh Well solo but I’ll kepp trying...

I've never really heard much early Fleetwood Mac, but funnily enough only a few weeks ago I spent an afternoon reading about Green, Kirwan and Spencer, watching the few clips which are on YouTube and wondering what became of them all.

And now this very sad news.  RIP.

I was obsessed with this song as a boy starting on guitar even though it was 20 years after it’s release.

It’s a slow drive, but that solo from 3:20 - faff me! So much space and so much tone.

RIP indeed.  "Jigsaw Puzzle Blues" was my favourite, still can't play it properly.

That was on the B side of the Albatross single I think? Gobsmacked the first time I heard it, what a cracking little tune. RIP Danny Kirwan.

I'm a bit late to the party and have only just found out about Danny's death, gutted doesn't come close to how I feel. Early Fleetwood Mac is my main influence in guitar playing. R.I.P Danny, I hope you're at peace now.
Tomorrow will be a good day.
