Saw them supporting the Billy Corgan ba-...I mean the Smashing Pumpkins (well, some of them) in Brixton a few years ago.

Brilliant. They sound like my younger years, much like Wolf Alice do, and the singer is gorgeous (which is by the by, I know...).

Love Ringo Deathstarr - very MBV-esque

  • I stumbled upon this the other day and it got the ol' spine tingling.
Another Tale From Another English Town by Lanterns On The Lake.

My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

I'm really enjoying the new Soccer Mommy album - some great 90s-ish lo-fi slacker pop

If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Gave this album a listen after reading this review. Right up your street if you like reverb laden melancholic ambient tunes. Which I do.

  • The Duke Spirit - Blue & Yellow Light.

Another 90s shoegazey-sounding band with an attractive female lead singer... I'm sensing a pattern....

  • Snail Mail - Lush. Great album of indie pop heartbreak songs by a talented 18 yr old American.

Ooh, 6 pages of stuff to check out .....

Meanwhile the new Low singles sound epic.
(I'm not going to listen to these Low singles any more as I don't like to "unbalance" the album by being acclimatised to 3 tracks and not the rest.)

Yeah and it's getting better with each listen. I assume it's a Jaguar (as seen in the video) with nice Fender cleans. I like that it's mostly clean and not dependent on effects, lets the songwriting shine through.

Cheers for that, I gave the album a listen over the weekend.  Really enjoyed it.

Agreed about the clean guitar tones.

New electronic album by Martyn called Voids; dark atmospheric mix of techno/house/garage; one of the best albums of this type I’ve heard in a long time. Check out this tribal moody track:

  • Another grower album; 1,2 Kung Fu by Boy Azooga. Perfect in this hot weather. Strong Super Furry vibes, which is a good thing.

+1 on the Low singles. I have this suspicion that a different mix of the songs will appear on the album.

Meanwhile - this is well worth a listen if you like ethereal Hammock like stuff.
