I want to put together a backup/rehearsal rig.

Currently thinking of some sort of pedal into an EHX magnum 44 into the speaker cab.

I really just need a good crunchy rhythm tone and pedal wise thinking of either the BE-OD, Bogner Ecstasy Blue/Red or Bogner La Grange.

Any thoughts on those pedals or others I could look at?

Thanks

    I like the Suhr Eclipse.

It's basically the same pedal twice so you can have set like a channel 1 & 2 or rhythm and lead.

  • La Grange is most versatile of the ones you mentioned

Thanks, the Suhr Eclipse looks cool.  Setting up the two sounds is a great idea.

The la grange is the one I’m leaning to at the moment.  Not heard a bad clip of it yet online!

I keep going round in circles looking at the same pedals.   The new double be od will probably be the one to beat when it comes out later in the year.
I like the look of the mesa distortion and boost as well - flux five but they are probably a different flavour to what you’re looking at and less Marshally obviously.
The Dirty Shirley might be a good alternative to the be od with more practical gain levels and mid control.
But for me the idea of a drive and boost in one is more useful than the single Friedman.

the BE-OD was pretty limited IMO, it does that one sound well but it's not the most versatile

Take a look at the Strymon Sunset, it's a dual overdrive with a plethora of switching options. I honestly don't think there is a better dual overdrive out there, it really is a very versatile pedal.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

wow  £119 is a very good price and the uberschall pedal at £84 looks a bargain as well.    If the Red or La Grange was at those prices I'd grab one.

@Teetonetal thanks for the heads up. Ecstasy blue ordered! Couldn’t not at that price with 30 day returns as well.

Not had a chance to fire it up yet, sadly.  Too much football distracting me at the moment!

Should be able to try it out this weekend.

Actually got time to try it tonight.

Great sounding pedal and works well through the baby bomb.  Very happy with this as my rehearsal set up.

Not a lot of gain in it but gives a really nice crunch sound. The switches are fun and allows for a lot of tone tweaking. Sounds very dynamic to me.

Can imagine it sounds immense through a valve amp as it probably is missing a bit of, I want to say top end sparkle, that you might get from the power section of a valve amp.

That mooer baby bomb is insanely compact.

I used an AMT SS-11A for this dirt of set-up, it's a compact, pedal format 3 channel valve preamp that sounds amazing.  Gigged with that in to a magnum 44 for years
