Kirk Fletcher solo (nice stuff)

This is lovely. What I like about it is how his phrasing closely mirrors Etta James vocal line, even down to the timbre of the notes, e.g. when he goes to the lower strings and picks closer to the bridge. His vibrato and the shape of the bends follows the sung line.

  • Stunning! Must be Jonny Henderson on organ/bass there too...known for backing up Matt Schofield for years. Some beautiful choices that really compliment Kirks playing.

One of the best around today. First saw him playing with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, we chatted after the show and he was such a humble friendly guy and seemed genuinely surprised that I had his solo cd back then. Refreshing to meet a player who really doesn't know just how good he is!
Saw him years later in a pub gig on his first UK tour and bought him a pint, must have been about 30 people there that night. He has the kind of touch that reminds me of BB KIng back in the day.
Great clip here, playing his Rutters T guitar with Ron Ellis pickups.

  • Great stuff! Not really heard much of that guy, but sounds super tasteful.

Apropos of nothing, here's some more tasty live blues stuff that cropped up on Youtube from two of the best guys around at the minute...

Kirk Fletcher has some of the most enormous hands

His Strat looks like a 3/4 guitar in his hands.

Superb technique though, his right hand in particular is very interesting to watch.

He's great. Interestingly, his brother is a famous bodybuilder and motivational speaker. Random
