You may not be a fan of the name on the headstock, but the new Harely Benton Pro Fusion line sounds like it might be up your alley. Nice trem, SS frets, and extremely good value by the looks of things.

    I'm tempted myself

Suhr Rasmus perhaps? One of the ones with the Gotoh 510 on.

Edit: just noticed you want a wood finish, thinking the only Rasmus like that was the Guthrie model. Over your budget I think.
Didnt suhr do a satin modern with a 510 ? Could probably find a used one for close to top end of the budget

Yes, the Suhr Modern Satin would fit the OP's spec, but I think he'd struggle to get one within budget.

I had my eye on one (albeit left handed) listed on Reverb recently but it was £1,600.

Ahh I didn't realise they had gone up so much in price, from memory I remember knocking them out at 1300 new. They were phenomenal value at the time

Jesus. I didn't realise they were that cheap! Yes that is phenomenal value. I think they're just the wrong side of 2k now. Hence the uptick in the 2nd hand price. Shame, unless you own one.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I'd try one of the new Ibanez AZ's. It would have to be a premium at your budget though. https://www.andertons.co.uk/ibanez-az-roasted-maple-neck-seymour-duncan-pups-gotoh-machine-heads-deep-espresso-burst-finish

The Andy Timmons model is a good shout also

Thanks all - that's a lot of food for thought!!

So far, the older Charvel San Dimas models are taking my fancy - they also did one in a Koa finish which would have been perfect - but I just need to find one at the right price!

Something like a Carvin DC127 could also do the trick.

I've tried the Ibanez AZ range and just wasn't keen on the neck - it felt a little chunkier than I'd like.

    Grrrr... decisions...
