Is there a UK shortage of Rustins Natural Filler

What's Hot
Trying to make this the summer of finishing off projects whilst I am out in Spain and went to order Rustins
Must of tried 10 sites now,  grain filler natural out of stock.

Or on Amazon and Ebay for £20 quid and up for the small pot

Definitely rocking horse shit this stuff, I’ve suffered the same fate, can’t find it anywhere at a reasonable price and most places are out of stock

There was a warehouse fire in January which destroyed all the stocks. Details on the Rustin's website.

I've been promised it will be back soon but no sign as yet...

    Thanks Steve

Phew just when I decide to get down and finish some of the open projects, I can blame the factory fire for another year.  LOL

+1 for Jacofil, I use the transparent stuff so it can be tinted easily.

    Damn it! Just ran out!

I have some of this left from an experiment last year but I don't really like it. Turns everything yellow and very fucking dusty when you sand.

It's actually used to fill the fret slots when you de-fret a Jazz Bass.

Surely you fill them with nice shiny MOP or Pearloid so you have a faint clue where the f*** you are on the fretboard?

I always go with a pale wood veneer.

filler just highlights the tang wounds from pulling the frets. Although they should not happen on an old fender if the frets are pushed out.

I shuddered with the idea of pushing the frets out of my old P bass...

    Did you do it?

i have done a few now, the sideways frets do leave really clean slots when removing properly

No, just the sheer thought of it on mine makes me wince ;)

Funny thing is, with flat wounds on I get pretty much no fret wear at all. The stock frets on a pre-CBS precision are teeny tiny and might as well be tippex, but there's so little wear that I doubt they will need replacing whilst I have it.

its quite easy once you get the hang of it, and it does leave really clean slot that could just be filled.   this is the 67 i have just done.

i filled it with fretwire rather than grain filler
