    The Who - I Can't Explain

Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World

    The Jam - Start

Ocean Colour Scene - You've Got It Bad

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Third Eye Blind - Jumper, really simple 4 chord song in the main, but Kevin makes it sound so much more (I could've picked any of Kevin Cadogans work, genius guitarist!)

And not sure if this has been in yet, Lindsey Buckingham is the god of tasteful solos for me, the end of The Chain is perfecto! (went with a live version, generally cos they look coked up, especially Lindsey/Mick!)

My head said brake, but my heart cried never.

Don't think we've had these yet, so...

The late, great Robert Quine on Richard Hell & The Voidoids "The Kid With The Replaceable Head".
Ditto, James Honeyman Scott on The Pretenders "Kid"

Ian and Davy are family friends - I grew up with them coming to our house to rehearse with my mum and my dad replaced Ian in a band called East West back in the 70s.

My mate/school pal Dave Stewart is also now touring with Pilot (was also in Alan Parson Project and the first few Fish albums/tours) - sadly Iain Bairnson has "retired from performing and recording due to some health concerns but from what his family has said he is still playing everyday and loving life".

Very tasty player, not only did Pilot/Alan Parson Project but the solo on Wuthering Heights and many other classics. PRS man thru and thru as well

Nice one mate, have a wow!  I think all I can claim is growing up, the dad of one of my mates used to be in Dave Dee Dozy Beakey Mick and Titch - not sure which one he was though.  Nice guy, he actually gave me my very first guitar.

I actually can't believe this hasn't been shared yet! Just went through expecting to see it and didn't so here it is.

A total guitar fest from start to finish and the solos/melodies are perfect. This is probably more responsible for my love for Rock music above all else as it's my Dad's fave tune outside of The Beatles. First solo from 02:26 ish but I shared it from the beginning cos its awesome! Thank me later if you haven't heard it in a while, lol. Hated to see it sold out to a TV ad

    J. Honeyman-Scott at 1.35 - perfect!  Melodic, fits the song, but takes it somewhere else.

Talk Talk - I don’t believe in you

i imagine that those of you that worship at the pentatonic altar of ‘classic tone’ won’t get it, but to me this is perfect and could not be bettered in the context of this song.
FWIW, the production of this album is second to none imho

I played with Davy for 6 or 7 months in a band about ten years ago - really good guy and a great bassist!

Agree! We used to cover that song at the time.
Great example og good Strat tone!
Edit: I'm sure the original is a Strat!

Huge Nik Kershaw fan here - love some of the guitar parts on his records.

This one is particularly great.  Hummable and just nice to play.

Big fan of Nik Kershaws guitar playing too!

When I heard the solo on "When a Heart beats" I knew he could play guitar!!
Perhaps not very melodic for Nik but "out there".
