Neil, that is great work, really impressive and I’m loving your eye for all the little details (which doesn’t surprise me at all!). Great to see you’ve even made some improvements to Gibson’s construction process, with the neck angle etc.

In fact, this is almost up there with the dovetailed wooden tray I made in woodwork class at school when I was about 14!

Well, thank you @fretfinder, and, as you know, I will not rest until my dovetails are as accurate as that tray... :)

Looking at this brilliant guitar I was wondering.  If Henry Juskiwiecz  the Gibson CEO saw it would he suggest his wonderful autotune tuners?. A surefire winner in his ridiculous mind.
It sums up the world,Big company executives wrecking things whilst talented passionate individuals create great things in small sheds.Well done Neil. Gibson should get you in now.

looks stunning and a testament to your attention to detail and skills - so the $64,000 question is when will you post some high quality video / soundclips .. ?

Yeah lovely work  and as said think it deserves a little video outing as video and sound will bring it to life, it's not like you can make guitars and can't knock out a tune on them LOL

Very soon, I was hoping to do some video this week but I have some much to do currently, I just haven't been able to find the time. I will get something up in the next couple of weeks though as I totally appreciate seeing a guitar is only part of the deal. So once i've got my current orders to a point where I can do no more, it's the next priority on my list :)

Ok, so here's an update hopefully some of you may find useful.

I'm in the process of getting a customers order finished and have been working on the setup/fret dressing, I plugged it up and tried it out and decided to video my noodling.

Now i'm very new to all this so be gentle....and I managed to find the squeakiest stool in the room...but hopefully this will give those of you who have been asking a flavour of what I build, i'll do something 'proper' soon!

Basically I just wanted to show that the more you dig in, the more you get back and how well they clean up with the volume. No pedals, straight into the amp which I didn't touch throughout.

  • Does the type of wood affect the tone of the squeak?
