I shall start with a top tip, try playing one when you have had way too many G&T's, they sound ace and seem to be much easier to play, why? Who knows.

Maple necked ones are the best until you remember you have two then rosewood necks are the best.

My Lite Ash US Std Tele was bought for my 50th by the lovely Mrs9000. Over the years the wood (which was slightly anaemic to start with) has mellowed into a golden honey hue.

I also have a MIM Std which has been Esquire'd and now sports an OilCity Alligator 90 in the bridge. There is a vague plan to swap the pickup for an OilCity Forty-niner at some point to get a more classic sound from the guitar.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

    Since you asked, here's mine.
HOSCO roasted maple neck and most of the hardware courtesy of @gavin_axecaster , body by @lonestar , finished with a set of Oil City Summer of Love '67 pickups.

For my 18th birthday, I wanted nothing more than I wanted a good ol' Fender Telecaster. For my 30th birthday, now a few weeks away, I have a good ol' Fender Telecaster on the way.

For my 40th, I'll probably want a Fender Telecaster too ;) The most effortlessly cool guitar there is.

  • As I said in another thread, since the first time I saw Bruce Springsteen on the cover of 75-85 I've loved telecasters.
Here are my two partscasters. One inspired by THAT Springsteen tele, the other is based on Chris Shifletts.Teles just feel "right" to me

always loved the look of a blonde tele with a maple fretborad - got one for my 50th, as arranged by my eldest son (I bought him one in wine red for his graduation present years ago) and its everything I believed it would be albeit with a setup and  a seymour duncan 1/4 ponder in the bridge :)

My only Telecaster tip is.... don’t bother modding it. I fitted Callaham bridge, Bareknuckle pickups & pots & caps to mine... and it sounded better completely stock :)
