I think I've sorted it now. It makes me feel car-sick trying to do all this on my phone!

    That sucks! GWS, dude!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Cheers guys. It's day 4 of not being able to swallow and I'm losing a lot of weight - which would be fine but I was only 9.5st to begin with! Who knew tonsillitis was this nasty?!

I had it a couple of years ago ... and felt absolutely dire!

I've sprayed the front of the headstock black now.

Just done some wiring while it dries. I had a couple of caps and one full size audio pot hanging around so I bought 3 more pots.

Had it myself about 3 years ago...was also shocked by how vicious it is.

The doctor prescribed me some antibiotics that were the same shape and near enough the same size as rugby balls. I CAN'T SWALLOW A TEASPOON OF WATER, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SWALLOW THAT?!

They also prescribed the strongest painkillers i have ever taken...which made my eyes roll to the back of my head within minutes. I pretty much slept the week away.

Great progress with the guitar - enjoying the thread muchly.

Cheers Dave, I'm pretty much recovered now.

After 4 days of very little nutrition I got a bunch of mouth ulcers which just made it all worse!

And then when I did start eating again - oh the constipation!

Anyway, back tinkering with guitars again now...

    Nearly there now...

I had a nightmare trying to get the black paint smooth on the headstock, but in the end I've embraced the 'relic' aspect of the enterprise as it's a bit rough!

Looking great I've really enjoyed this thread and am very impressed with the transformation. Did you change the pickups or are they stock?

Ah pickups. That's had me scratching my head a bit. The existing Wilkinson ones have that really naff 80s looking Wilkinson logo on them.
As the guitar has been out of action so long, I kind of forgot how good sounding they are and I started daydreaming about buying replacements.
BUT I've strung it up and plugged it in today and they really do sound fine.
So I might just get some replacement axesrus nickel PAF covers so that I can get rid of the horrid logo.
I want to gig it for the first time on Sunday so it will stay as it is for a short while at least.

And all the electrics worked first time too.
I went for 50s wiring which I'd never tried before and I think I'm a convert.

I like 50's wiring with humbuckers a lot.

Excellent work - lovely guitars and an enviable job.

You get to play one of the greatest guitar solos of all time every night ("Can't Buy Me Love").
