  • This sounds really cool.

    1. Does a triangle count?
    2. Does it need to work after I’ve assembled it?
The only easy day, was yesterday...

1). Yes, if you can find a kit.

    2) no.  But make it an entertaining failure if you want to win

  • OK, for a complete n00b to guitar fettling, how about I make a Telecaster and customise it to be like Eddie Vedder's with the P90?

    £70 kit
    https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_eguitar_kit_tstyle.htm

Then some Bare Knuckle pickups (or other UK handmade).
The finish looks like a tough project - some solid black, some black stained on the forearm contour, and a flake/glitter on the upper section.

I think the solid black is actually gaffa tape!

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Given that I'm going to win, and I need a P90 neck pickup for my build, you may as well just send me one now and save me some money  ;)

I didn't know about Oil City pickups, so I'll have a look and see if you have something to suit my project.

I’m going to save myself the embarrassment of failing to complete a challenge (again) as there’s no realistic chance of me finishing something between now and end-Nov.

So I shall watch from the sidelines and shout encouraging comments from time to time.

That’ll make little difference to my chances unfortunately - In work life, I have a 1.1.19 go-live date ..

Blimey ... I know we're in a backwater in 'Made in the UK' but wow! :-)
I'm the guy who makes the pickups for these ...

I was actually going to build a kit Les Paul at some point before Christmas ... but a Gibbo came up at the right price ... and I decided against it. I shall also watch from the side lines ... I'm always gobsmacked by how much talent we have on here.

Can we get a kit from wherever we want? I want to do a Tele with a maple fretboard, the Thomann one appears to be rosewood only.

I would also offer a harness of choice into the prize pot.
