It sounded very fizzy at first but then I found a setting in the I/O section for line out and changed that to 'mixer', which seemed to restore the goodness...but are there other settings I need to tweak for this setup? Does the global cab apply to the line outs as well as the XLR? Unfortunately, with the JamHub you have to use 1/4" inputs for instruments.
but if ya remember your 1/4" settings for your amp setup too then the wizard will make switches as simple as you like without going to each setting individually.
Weirdly, my band members were saying it didn't sound so good last time we practiced, even though I didn't change anything and we were using exactly the same setup! Go figure...
I've been playing around a bit with different cabs and settings...I seem to get a bit of a 'honky' kind of tone when using high gain...I've been playing with dialling that out using a narrow band high freq cut in the parametric eq. That works pretty well.
I'm not sure on the cabs...I downloaded some OH free IRs and they seem to be the best, but the stock alt 4x12 is good too. I find most of the others too middy for my taste.
if using 1/4" for both practise and amp/live use though I'd say the wizard is quickest way. Change in output volume and input gain may be reason for change in sound maybe volume was set different last time so not as much in sweet spot (take a mental note of where volume control is set). Or maybe the jam hub input is better impedance matched for headphone out.
Something to do with using a compressor maybe?
Normally I use a Kemper or an AxeFX II so thought the GSP would be a bit of a comedown but it sounded bloody epic! Doesn't have the realism of the other two when listening closely but, in a band context, it sounds big and cuts through a mix beautifully. I amplified it through my Red Sound/dxr10 rig and I was hugely impressed.
Still a great little box and cheap as chips nowadays.
I have less experience of the direct sounds - we have started rehearsing using a Jam hub and it has taken me a bit more tweaking to get happy with the sounds that way. But it is working really well now. It's interesting that you found it held its own going direct into a DXR10 setup. I'd like to try that.
