Helix artist tones.

What's Hot
rossyamaharossyamaha Frets: 2439
So been working my way through HX Stomp today and I've been dialling in some artist tones. I have to say, other than having a lot of fun doing it, it did get me thinking. Are there any in particular that you would like to hear/ have/ struggling to get?

I've been concentrating on the ones that seem to be hardest to nail (Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons, Brian May).

I also like the challenge of this so any suggestions/ requests welcome. Even if you're not a Helix owner.

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.

  • Kevin Shields. Not that I particularly want it, but I suspect it might be a challenge
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Nuno - a lot more going on than just high gain and trebly pickups
Alex Lifeson - something like his tone on The Pass
Satriani - his tone on the FIABD album. Never heard anyone nail this
Vai - his tone with DLR, ( Hot dog and a shake is a good example)
George Lynch - again, not just high gain. His style plays a great part, but specifically his tone on the Back for the Attack album
John Norum on The Final Countdown/Rock the Night

    Steve Albini/Shellac tone
Oooh good call, there's a bloody sound!
On a side note, I was introduced to Shellac by my old bassist who was also a superb rhythm guitarist. He got an almost dead on Albini tone with a Pukka bass amp, a Boss DS1 set very low and the neck pick up of a flying v copy...how he did it I have no idea but it was an astonishing sound.

It’s fantastic isn’t it? Really aggressive and infectious, part of his sound must be from his guitar also, I love Shellac and there’s some incredible live videos on YT

  • I'd go for some that are not my typical ones, because I find them harder to do by myself than the sounds I make most often. So I'd say:

    Muse - clean and dirty
Yeah Yeah Yeahs (OK that is a normal one for me but never quite nailed it)
    Velvet Underground
    The Kills
The bloke who played guitar in Miles Davis' band who sounded a bit like Hendrix

Though I expect most of these would be of limited appeal :)
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me
