  • Holdsworth.

Both his shimmer cleans and the mid-hump drive tone he got.

    Ta.

The bloke who played guitar in Miles Davis' band who sounded a bit like Hendrix

Mike Stern ? That'd be different.
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

Kurt Rosenwinkel.  I believe he uses modellers (Kemper and Axe FX - my information predates Helix, whether he's explored the Helix option I don't know).

Steve Lukathers über-processed Fahrenheit tone. Oh, Tambu too, while you're at it

Nuno - a lot more going on than just high gain and trebly pickups
Alex Lifeson - something like his tone on The Pass
Satriani - his tone on the FIABD album. Never heard anyone nail this
Vai - his tone with DLR, ( Hot dog and a shake is a good example)
George Lynch - again, not just high gain. His style plays a great part, but specifically his tone on the Back for the Attack album
John Norum on The Final Countdown/Rock the Night

I'd have a look at Jason Sadites 'dialling in' series. I thought his Nuno tone was very close. As did my son, who's a bit of a fanboy

@rossyamaha - will you be making this available for the unit i.e. officially as Artist Patches or sharing them on a Line6 Patch site?

Wow. You guys are getting in some that I would've mentioned

Some good cleans - Nile Rodgers has been mentioned but an EJ effected Clean and Andy Summers (Walking on the Moon, EBYTake). A generic Pat Metheny would be nice like on 'James' i.e. chorused jazz tone

Nice to see Lukather here and great choice on the tone from Fahrenheit or his big ballad tone on 'I'll be over you'
Dann Huff - from the first Giant album - opening for 'I'm a Believer' - probably not too dissimilar to Lukather.

Edie Brickell's 'What I want' and the wonderful auto-wah'd solo sound

    Stones - 'Start me up

Lindsey Buckingham's solo tone on 'Big love'

A generic Rockabilly tone - ? Brian Setzer

Boys of Summer - Mike Campbell low gain

Robben Ford's 80's lead tone from the tracks 'Talk to your Daughter' & 'Help the Poor'

    Knopfler on Sultans

    Boston intelligent harmonies
    Thin Lizzy intelligent harmonies

Gary Moore - 'Parisienne' & 'Still got the Blues'

Santana - 'Europa live' or 'Smooth'

He's doing well for Wolves in the prem at the moment too, as much as it hurts to admit it as a Baggie

I've watched a bunch of people on youtube doing sound like Andy Summers/ The Police and they seem to get it very wrong  so I'd +1 to that and the What I Want sound.

And I'd +1 whoever said The Stooges. Apart from irony of using something very hi tech to sound like something made  using rusty oil drums it is one of those oddly elusive sounds.  I think there is an association with modelers and rather slick/ highly produced sounds so anything very lo fi ( maybe some Hound Dog Taylor as well)to my mind would be a better/ more interesting demonstration of what the Helix can do.

Not that I have a Helix, just that it would be interesting and that Ross should sweat a little...

It does indeed. Both of them. I actually prefer them both to the originals. Which I have.

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.
