Raygun FX pedals - any experience?

What's Hot

I know a chap on here sells them on his lovely page, but I was wondering if anyone had hands-on experience with these pedals?

I'm currently looking at the Aurora Delay V2 and the Kill Switch as potential purchases once some of my sales thread shifts.

I have an Aurora Delay (V1 I think).  Great pedal, nice warm analogue sound.  Recommended.

I have an Aurora Delay.  I think it is a V1 - rectangular box, but set up sideways.  No complaints and happy to help UK pedal builders.

Thanks guys. I was considering the V2, the one with two switches and two selector switches and I think four dials. The space dial and footswitch are appealing...

Haven't looked at their website for a while, but I now see some new pedals.

The Aurora I have must be even earlier than the V1.  I also had an octave fuzz (doesn't appear to be available any more) for a while but I gave it to a niece for some teenage noise making.

Are they generally well made and quiet to operate?

I sell Raygun products and they are great, don't let the relatively low price point fool you.

The Aurora is a great delay pedal. I prefer the one with the Space switch as its a but more versatile and the delay is a bit more present than the Aurora Mini. Both great options though!

  • I've seen them and never been sure what they're like but been very twmptte given the price. As @Ddigger says, it's good to support UK builders

Have you used the Aurora V2 much?  Thinking it could be a cheaper option than the Caroline Meteore with that extra switch that makes things a bit more spacey but not sure if that switch effect is too subtle. Have you got the Kill Switch mini in stock too?

I've not found too many demos of these. Is the Aurora very lo fi or is it more like an analogue delay?

Yeah a fair amount. Really like it. Nice warm delays that decay nicely. Space switch is a nice bonus to. I don’t have any killswitches in stock I’m afraid

Cheers dude. In their demo the Space switch seemed to create quite a subtle swell, apart from one instance where it got quite loud and distorted (which I actually like) - is there much play with how extreme the Space switch can get?

Yeah, on higher settings it can start to go into meltdown after holding the space switch down for a few seconds. You get this kind of “how much longer dare I hold this down before it blows my amp up” kinda feeling. Which is cool.

On lower settings it can be more of a subtle wash in the back.

I I like noise though so always use the settings turned up fairly high

Cool, cheers for answering my many questions - waiting for some pedals to sell so once they go, I'll place an order. Cheers dude! (I like noise too).

Do you have any links to particularly useful demos?

Theyre great pedals. The Beastmaster Deluxe is another winner too. Thick, meaty fuzz with an awesome Glitch footswitch, a little similar to the Fuck Overdrive by smallsound/bigsound

Watched their video, looks really nice but I'm sorted for fuzz. I do like how they're putting switches instead of dials for things which saves bending over.

Have you tried the Life Is Unfair Pale Spectre? I can't really work out exactly what it does based on the two videos I can find. I like the idea of it but need some more info...

I also stock that. Its kind of a glitchy, spluttery fuzz with a dying battery kinda vibe. Similar-ish to the Raygun one with the glitch mode active.

Sorry for being so vague, some of the stranger textures can be hard to describe and sound different to each individual person.

its a good pedal that's for sure, maybe leans more towards more experimental stuff or lo-fi garage rock or something. Its definitely a fuzz with some flavour!

I thought it was a tremolo, booster and (whatever the third mode is called)? Unless they did a fuzz version of it?
