Cheers @meltedbuzzbox for the info.  Next time I’m in Camden I’ll have to go to GuitarGuitar and try a couple different models out.

I had a Squier VM for a while. Needed a little bit of monkeying with, and a Staytrem, but eventually it played luvverly. The pickups were a bit Kate Moss (thin and uninspiring) so I put Dimarzio SD strat pickups in the Jazzmaster shells. It was more fun than Kate Moss, that's for sure. She seems like a right mardy cow. And I bet she smells.

Did you upgrade to Fender model in the end? Or just move onto something else?

I part exed it for an SG Jr that I thought I wanted, and then regretted it. Subsequently I got a VW Jag for dirt cheap and I put some humbucker in. I like it, but the Jazzy felt better IIRC.

Still got an itch for one of these, although there is nothing atm that REALLY catches my eye.

I see that there is a new NAMM Show (24th-27th January) fast approaching, but does that translate to new Models across the range being updated? :/

Maybe, but they announced the 60th anniversary MIM Jazzmasters at Jan 2018 NAMM and they've only finally hit the shops in the last few months.

Tbh I don't think there's been as many variations available as there is right now. I can't see them being able to release anything more than new colour variations of what's already out.

All quality hardware, Mastery bridge and trem, freakin’ awesome Mojo Pickups, great neck....awesome fun to play.  Uber delighted with it.
Kicking myself for not buying a Jazzmaster sooner.

I think this may well be the feeling for me when I eventually get around to buying one.

For years I’ve wanted to get an Epiphone Casino, to scratch my John Lennon itch.  But my most played guitar is my Squier Standard Stratocaster, I think mainly due to the comfortable body carve...so that part of the reason that I want to get a Jazzmaster next...whether it’s another Squier, or a Fender/G&L etc. The brand name doesn’t bother me too much.

Just played one of these (black, B&B, matching headstock) for the first time a couple of days ago. LOVED it... If these had've been released a few years ago, I probably would have bought one instead of my AV65, it was that good.

Me too! I've got a daphne blue warmoth jazzmaster build happening at the moment, but for that I'd have been all over the Daphne Blue 60th anniversary.

I recently got a surf green american original Jag, now that's very good. So good in fact that I'm tempted to get one of those ocean turquoise jazzmasters.

Either way I don't think there's been a better time to buy an offset. Loads of choice at all sorts of price points.

Jesus, that darker Dale Wilson Masterbuilt on the top row is something else... *drool*

Very nice, although I’m not a fan of the scratchplate. I know it sounds weird but I would like to be the one who ages the guitar through my own use.

Squier J mascis or squier deluxe. They are basically the same guitar except the mascis has a satin neck and the deluxe has a finished neck. The mascis has more p90 like pickups and the deluxe has more tradional jazzmaster single coil pickups.

    Thanks @Calum13 ;

Pricewise the Deluxe is around £100ish cheaper than the J Mascis. Appreciate the pickup difference info!

I prefer the satin neck because it's easier to move around (without getting fingerprints on it) and looks nicer. You'd basically be paying that extra £100 for the neck and J's signature. I'm thinking of getting the J mascis and swapping out the pick guard for a tortoiseshell one and maybe putting wide range humbuckers for sonic youth sound, the lee ranaldo jazzmasters are hard to find.

A nice permanent marker & fine grit sandpaper would definitely come in cheaper  =)

I'll look into the Lee Ranaldo Jazz masters, must confess I know nothing about them.

Let us know how you get on & what route you go.

Yeah, easy way to save £100!
    Here's a Lee Ranaldo jazzblaster.

Not the nicest colour choice, it looks boring. If I was getting the mascis jazzy I would turn it into this (without the stickers)

If I was getting the deluxe I'd change it to this, except without the matching headstock  :'(
