Up for sale is my Yamaha SG 1802, in black.  Superb sounding instrument, loads of sustain and clarity as you would expect from an handcrafted instrument from Yamaha Japan's custom shop in Hamamatsu.

Based on the original Yamaha SG's of the 70's/80's but with some new appointments such as Grover Locking Tuners, Tonepros Bridge, Switchcraft switch & Seymour Duncan Pickups.

  • Bridge/Tailpiece: Tonepros AVRII/Tonepros T1Z
  • Pickups: Seymour Duncan Custom P90s
  • Pickup Switch: 3-Position Toggle (Switchcraft)
  • Controls: Neck Volume, Bridge Volume, Neck Tone, Bridge Tone
  • Case: Fitted Brown Leather (Branded)
  • Weight: 9.3lbs

I've weighed the guitar on my bathroom scales and it is around the 9lb mark which, in my experience makes it a good weight for a basically what would be a double cut 56 Les Paul.  These are built like a Les Paul of old with a proper carve, with top quality woods and hand crafted and finished.

In a great condition with a small amount of buckle rash on the back, and one small ding on the top cutaway which is in the pictures.  This has not penetrated the finish.

Comes with the top quality original Yamaha Hardshell case which fits the guitar perfectly keeping it safe and protected.  Comes with the original spec sheet hand signed by the luthier who built the guitar.

Set up with tens and has a nice low to medium action.  Little to no fret wear and the case is in great condition with only a small mark on the top but no rips or tears and definitely no damage.  Has all the accessories that came with the guitar.

A great review of what this guitar can do can be found here: https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guitars/yamaha-sg1802-259988 but the SD P90 pickups really snarl but have that articulation we have all come to know and love in a P90 pickup.  It's a seriously versatile instrument.

Looking for £1250 collected or £1275 delivered.  Can be collected from me in Blyth, North East England, about 30 minutes away from Newcastle by car.

Trades wise: looking for a low wattage valve amp that has a decent master volume/attenuation.  Something like a Carr Mercury.  Could also be persuaded by something Gretschy such as an Electromatic etc.

These retail for £3,000 new if you can find someone who has one that isn't on special order and it's less than you would pay for a Les Paul standard used and these are beyond Gibson custom shop quality in my opinion.  If it wasn't I wouldn't have sold my R7!

Any questions feel free to ask.

Cheers!

Neil.
