    Ginetta G40R?
An excellent suggestion - it had occurred to me, and it's got a roof and aircon. But, I fear, a little too hardcore for the moment. I'd love a go in one though.

I think today will basically answer the A110 or Evora question, which seems to be what this has boiled down to.

    I was right!

The Alpine was stunningly good. Better ride than my Golf, faster but less frantic than the Evora, perfectly decent interior, the comfiest seats I can remember sitting in, and it feels fast at legal speeds. It's what Lotus have been trying to make for decades.

I might have ordered one. In sparkly blue, of course. With the childish sports exhaust that makes rally-car pops and bangs when you turn it on.

The best car I have ever driven. I'm keeping it until we run out of petrol, and then I will run it on booze or blood or anything else I can.

Absolutely brilliant choice. Well jel, as the kids might say, possibly.

Also it made an excellent noise - not super loud, and not the roary-shriek of the Evora, but a brilliant "vrooooosh".

Just 9 months or so to wait.

  • Congrats man! Looks like a sweet car, just drooled over the configurator.

What's nice is that it comes as standard with stuff Porsche would want another £8k or so for...

The wheels are tricky though. I'm pretty sure I like the 17s best, so that means Pure spec.

Also the brown leather option has blue stitching, which pops rather.

  • The 17 and the 18 fuchs are my favorites, I don't like glossy black wheels at all. The 17 will be a smoother ride on UK roads for sure.

  • If given a choice, I'd go for the smaller wheel on any car I'd be driving on UK roads.

I like the Premiere Edition wheels best. The demonstrator was on the standard 18s and the ride was very, very good - firm but it smoothed out bumps nicely. I've seen the Fuchs on one of the showroom cars, and I think I like the 17s better looks-wise - less spindly. So not that hard a decision, and it simplifies other decisions.

So I'm getting the mirror pack (folding and dimming), the upgraded Focal stereo with a subwoofer, the adjustable heated seats, and the sports exhaust. Everything else I cared about is standard.

I don't have these... Does that mean I have no fuchs to give?
