    Le Creuset. It'll outlive you.
And is really non-stick, not just non-stick for a few weeks.

Le Creuset pans arnt to begin with, unless you go for the enamel or teflon lined pans. ''It is not a non-stick surface but over time will behave like one as it develops a natural patina'' https://www.lecreuset.co.uk/cast-iron-frying-pan-with-wooden-handle My old Le Creuset bulged in the middle leaving no contact on the hob and thus not getting up to temperature properly, even on the Rayburn, threw it out in the end.

Whatever you do, leave it a couple of weeks, unless you have already done all your Christmas shopping.
I infer from your comment that you're going to buy me one for Xmas. Thanks!
Sadly not, but I have bought one for my wife. Last year it was oven gloves. We have a very PC relative who is incensed by such a sexist gift and we always pretend to her it is all I have bought.
to be clear, I do also buy several other very acceptable gifts.

Cheap ones from ikea perform as well and last longer than the fancier ones we’ve had.

(or so Mrs DJ tells me, I’m more into power tools and big hammers grrrr) ;-)

I've had an Ikea cheappy for 5 years, still going strong and resolutely non stick.

I wish there was a monthly magazine called “What Frying Pan?”.
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.
Also chips are "Plant-based" no matter how you cook them.

We have a twenty two year old John Lewis ‘Stellar’ stainless steel pan. I presume they still make them.

There is a school of thought that says all these fancy none stick chemicles are eventually absorbed into our bodies. Cast iron and season it is the solution according to some.
You need to do a spot of research.

Carbon Steel is a good alternative, and a reason why all the commercial kitchen uses them (as opposed to cast iron).  You still need to season them the same way.

  • Le creseut is okay.
i will still swear by copper but if non stick is your game then Scanpan are brilliant.
not cheap, over £100 for the good ones, but they do a range of pricing

I have had my main fry up pan for well over 10 years, beast it with metal cutlery and utensils and unmarked and still non stick

^ pears of wisdom right there. Scanpan is the shiznit.

I have on my kitchen wall a bunch of handmade copper pans that my great-grandparents used to cook in, but they’re strictly ornamental of course.

Be careful with old copper pans, if the tin lining has worn through they really shouldn't be used.
