  • Great stuff RandallFlagg, I would never have heard this if it wasn't for you drawing my attention to it with this thread  I like it. Much better than Dorje.
    On that basis, try this:

Not bad once it gets started, but I don't see the similarity at all.

I’d never heard this band before, so just judged it on its own merits. I’m open to all music so enjoy listening to stuff that’s new (to me.)

This is a really old song of Chapmans isn't it?

Am I missing something, it’s pretty bad, good enough effort (and better than anything I’ve ever done) but would you reallym listen to it above all the great music that is out there?

Rob has no rhythm or sway with his vocals, there’s nothing memorable about the melody. He has a good tone to his voice but his technique is extremely forced and unnatural. It’s the same in Dorje, the vocal is the weakest part

I know what you mean, his vocals don't sound like they ooze real passion or feeling, they sound forced. His lyrics are pretty poor as well (but many songwriters have made millions from worse than that...see Noel Gallagher).

I think Rob Chapman suffers from his trained vocal technique of sounding like he is shouting in a restrained way so he doesn't damage his vocal chords. For fuck's sake man just let go when you record, with true passion and fire.

Compare this to the singing on Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, which has lyrics that are is a load old nonsense but the way Chris Cornell delivers it is amazing.

I like the guitars and the tones on the EP are nice.

Wow, those are some horrible overmannered vocals. For me the song's forgettable generic Planet Rock style rock bluzak and way too long.

Bloody hell, I’m going to have to listen to it now, so I can have an opinion either way

edit....it’s not something I enjoyed listening to.... I thought he’d borrowed Boy George’s hat for a minute..

At 0.06 he nearly drags his pedalboard along due the massively tangled cable

A few seconds later it's mysteriously untangled...the wonder of editing!
