Its not won independence yet. I have been to England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, all much of a muchness except the road signs in Eire.

Never been to Scotland as its north of the wall.

Beautiful mountain scenery. Excellent hotel in Dushanbe. Fairly large number of NATO military bods milling around as Dushanbe airport was still being used to supports operations in Afghanistan.

Seeing as it's still on the list, South Africa.

Jo'burg, 2010 (about a month before the World Cup). Not a very nice place, really rather racist (in both directions) and quite scary at times. I'm told it's a lot worse now.

Seychelles. 2001. Somebody else's wedding. Too bloody hot and absolutely bugger all to do once the novelty of the tropics wears off after 4 or 5 days.

Mrs Oct and I were talking the other day about this.

She has been to 62 countries, I've only been to 47- she travels for work though so it is always on someone else's dime.
