There is a nice looking black paisley version on eBay at the moment. My mates got a similar one and he reckons its one of the best tele's he has ever played.

I've got both the black one and the pink one listed on eBay. The Black MIM FSR guitar is a far superior in every way. The latest MIJ reissue is not very good imo, feels very cheap, needs new pick ups and mine required a thorough setup.

That looks wrong. Wrong bridge, different to the usual burst shape.

I'd steer well clear tbh.

Yep, looks wrong. I only paid £100 for mine brand new earlier in the year too.

As the description says it's a mix of mij and mia bits so probably doesn't fit standard spec but just putting it out there for the OP to consider.

Still looks wrong. Might be a great guitar but I don't believe it's a Fender MIJ body.

I had a Japanese Pink Paisley from the early 2000's and it was a superb guitar in almost every way. I'd agree that the pots and switch let it down a little, but the stock pickups were okay if not outstanding (the tone cap value and volume treble bleed didn't get the best from them). Fit and finish was exceptional, (although they are more pink than the originals) and it played superbly for a vintage reissue. Its now owned and regularly gigged by another forumite who holds it in high regard.

I did look at the Black Paisley models when they came out, but passed on them. Being based on the then Mexican Standard they feel very modern (which could be good or bad depending on how you like your Tele's), but the body is unchanged from a Mexican Standard, including all the routing - so no chance at all of putting a transparent pickguard on one. Don't get me wrong, a Mexican Standard can be a great guitar, but I have certain expectations when it comes to Paisleys. Had Fender done things right, at least with regard to the body (i.e. routed and drilled late 60's style), I might have had one.

Oh, and don't look for Paisleys on TheStratosphere. They have Allparts Black Paisley Strat and Tele bodies for sale, but with shipping and duties they are extortionate - but I still want one!

Just saw this but I will be selling my paisley tele soon.
Allparts Paisley body - they are better than the MIJ ones.
Allparts vintage tint neck
Bareknuckle Country Boy pickups
CTS TVT wiring
Joe Barden Bridge.
Tuners are Grover vintage kluson style. Aged nickel.
Bone nut.

Hardly used it since building it, frets are dressed immaculate.

Ho-hum. Big frets, a modern fingerboard radius and the clear coat on the body could do with being yellower (except under the pickguard).

you could do a lot worse than a Brad Paisley...........the "relic" bit looks shit but they play brilliantly and sound great

Sorry to op for derailing, but why in God’s name would you put nocaster pickups in that? I know it’s custom shop so you can do what you want, but late 60s tele so surely 67 tele pickups (which are great)

Yep, agreed, although I'd argue the fact Paisley Teles don't pre-date 1968 is probably the bigger deal here.

True and it should have a transition logo if it’s a 67. It’s just all wrong and I love Paisley guitars

The logo is accurate - Teles changed to that logo in Autumn '67; Strats in '68, I believe.
