Three reel to reel tape machines and some FX pedals .. bonkers.

I thought that was going to be like Frippertronics. Very clever but as you say, bonkers!

  • Didn't Ritchie Blackmore use an Aiwa machine for its preamp and the tape delay?
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

I think he did do something like that ... that sort of thing was certainly used by guitarists in the studio in the early 70s.

I used to use an old 2 track reel to reel as an echo unit by feeding the output to the input. Still the lushest delay sound I've heard.

I think it was Akai. My dad used to have one.

Having said that, I just googled it and numerous reel to reel tape decks are mentioned from all the major Japanese manufacturers. My take on that approach is that the Mic Input on a tape deck would have a lower impedance than a standard valve amp (Marshall) and would load down the guitar pickups thereby changing the tone (removing a lot of high end that is naturally present in a Strat pickup. Combine that with the additional gain available and you could drive the guitar amp quite hard to get a beefy tone.

I've still got my old Revox. Anyone else fancy forming a similar band?

I wonder if it could be done with old cassette players.  :#

Don't fret...I'm sure it is a temperature controlled, dust free man-shed and the A77's will have been individually hermetically sealed..........

.....possibly....my dad was an avid user / collector of HiFi gear. He bought and sold a lot but didn't offload the Revox before the backside fell out of that market. The fact that "analogue tape" is making a comeback has surprised him somewhat.....I have my doubts that the A77's  are in a serviceable condition. He still has a couple of Nakamichi Cassette decks!
