  • So the spreadsheet... That's for the studio (pre pub gig prescrib and also recorded)? And there's a gig later on.. and we're ok to do a few acoustic numbers?

Sorry I'm not on the ball.. things have been full--on ...

Daughter's just come down with chicken pox.

Her mum's never had it (yet).

We know how this ends don't we.

Get carried away, it'll be fun! The main part on Learn to.Fly is pretty simple, you could learn it up there, I reckon.

    I'm in then.

I know the 2 string octave riff.

    Mostly it's B, F# and E, with the F# being a slightly different voicing.

    I usually voice them B x24400 F# 2x2200 and the usual E.

Yes, last time there was about an hour for a few acoustic songs around 8-9pm. I think everyone who wanted to play got a go. Two or three songs each.  For the gig we’ll play a lot from the studio list I’m sure, with the gig list providing a few extras that we already know.

I'll have to give that a go. Before I switched to doing the bass I was doing the F# as x44200 and as you say, a straight E

Yes - as above, I play F# as x44200, but it switches between Bsus2 in the verse x24422 and Bsus4 in the chorus, intro and bridge x24400
    Karma......

We've got a couple of songs gig ready that we practiced Sunday, which we could maybe record on Sunday but will definitely play at the gig.

Still don't have a soloist for Dancing on the Moonlight, but drums, bass, rhythm and vox are covered. Anyone fancy doing a 16 bar solo in Em? Anything you like really, go to town!

I've actually spent more time practicing with Mrs Returns...who has agreed to do a duet with me in the open mic. This is a big step for her and well out of her comfort zone so I expect wild appreciation for her! (She normally only sings classical / show stuff in choirs and has never used a mic!)

  • I *think* the only thing I have left to do is put a bit of polish* on my bassline for Remedy.

I think I've got most other stuff sorted. I may need someone to breath for me during Girl from Mars...fuck me it's full on on the vocals! Not a lot of breathing room!

*by polish, I actually meant "learn what the notes are and practice playing them"

  • Btw, I don't *think* I've missed anyone, as I've been through my PayPal, but let me know if you think you've paid and you're not on my list.

  • ^ I'm not fussed about a £5 beer voucher if the money doesn't work for it.  I can't speak for everyone, but if the beer wasn't a cost that would help.  Also if that slacker @CustomPedalBoards puts his vodka down for long enough to ping you £40 then there'll only be a £35 deficit which we could cover by selling our bodies for cash outside the Cambridge.
