We've added Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" to our set list, which I blinking well love. What a great fun track (instantly became my favorite song in the set). Goes down great as well.
Good crowd pleaser that one .... do you do the intro like the record, as in both bits at once cos I love that riff and everyone seems to do one bit only or one bit each

We're a single guitar band so it's all me, but (confession time) I'm struggling to palm my pick for the intro and get it back in time for the next riff and solo when that happens later in the song....so the first time we gigged it I got the bass player to play those four notes (hides in shame).
Ah excuse accepted, carry on man :)

I've spent a long time on the Rebel Yell intro. I hold my pick like Reb Beach when tapping, so use this too when doing the intro.

It's especially useful when playing that section just before the solo too since it's easier to head straight into it. I must admit my plectrum is already nursed in my 1st finger before the D and A chords the precede the middle bit before the solo, so I just strum them with my middle finger.

It surely is a fun song to play though. :-)

Id like to hear a version of happy without keyboards being done tbh..

It's quite a sparse song, in some ways, so it's not too tricky without keys. What it DOES need to have is good backing vocals or it will fall flat on its *rse.

It generally goes down well, I like the dynamics of that one rather than the constant onslaught of American Idiot or Basket case

That little riff at the beginning is a hilly billy banjo roll if you hammer the f# to the g :)

Nice one, cheers man - will suggest the band gives it a go. I like the dynamics of the song too and we really need something in the set to take a bit of a breather
