    Amazing, and if you include both sets of substitutes and the ref it's even closer - I think 27 is the midpoint.

    if you include the ref ( ie 23 people) the odds are over 50% (50.9%IIRC). This was in the news during the World Cup because the squads had 23 players in. There were ( I have looked this up by now BTW my memory isn't that good) 32 squads so the chances were that just over half had players with shared birthdays in, according to BBC news it was 16 of them.
