B stock just means ex-demo, they should sort that
phone them up now, use 18185 etc, to reassure yourself before you go abroad

    Yeah, I will do tonight.

just read it has full warranty on their website which I shall be using.
A bit unhappy as the description said "may have slight traces of use" when infact the laquer is cracked and it has an ugly grey stain over the front.

  • That stain might just be the wood.  The lacquer crack is a bit of an issue, but I don't think I'd be sending it back - maybe trying to get a few bob back instead, as the description was a bit off - that's not slight traces of use.

If it is a stain, can you wipe it off?

Nope, its the wood thats that colour under the laquer

  • Hmm, tricky.

Does it sound and play okay though?  I think it, otherwise, looks awesome!

Mine's arrived today, but I've not had a chance to unbox it. It's b-stock, but I hope it's in a better state than yours mate. You could try to get a few quid back and then refinish it yourself maybe?

I may do, refinishing would be a big job though and I'm not sure I quite have the space available to do a complete refin.

Sounds and plays just fine :) bloody well for the price

    I bought a B-stock Tele (model TE20) for around £35 before P & P.

Can't believe how good it is to be honest - really nice neck, still had all packaging and cellophane on it too. There's only 2 things wrong with the guitar:

    • A very small, shallow ding on the back of the body (which took ages to find when I examined the guitar trying to find out why it's B stock)
    • The pick-up selector doesn't lock into place in the middle position

I've emailed Thomann to see if they will give me a partial refund to buy a new selector. The pick-ups sound good too - tried them at very high gain and no trace of them being microphonic.

The only thing I don't want mine to have is a major finish flaw on the top, anything else I could live with. I'll find out tonight, I suppose.

I'm still having little luck getting into a conversation with Thomann, so go ahead and order whatever.  Enough people have done that already that I can't go to them and say "there are 20 people waiting to order".

Assuming that their original offer will stand, there should be some Thomann vouchers floating around for us to do something with.  Not so much that it'd make a difference if we spread them out over all participants, so we'd probably need to either try to work out a way of deciding on a "winner" (and a runner up or two), or working out a way of including everyone with a chance of winning (I'm thinking along the lines of theFB raffle).

So, all you with itchy fingers, hit the "BUY" button and get on with it.

Please start a thread in the separate area of the Modding & Making section and post lots of progress pics, from the day it arrives to the day that you "finish" it.

    :)

That's all I needed to hear, my wife give me cash for a guitar this morning in preparation for my birthday in a few weeks. I'm still sold on the explorer type, so that will be the one, and maybe a 335 type next month :D Not sure how different it will look in the end as I'm not planning a refinish.

Raffle sounds like easiest idea by the way.
