A teacher asks her class to use the word 'contagious' in a sentence. Sally, the class genius, raises her hand and says, "Last year I got the mumps, and my mum said it was contagious."

"Very good," says the teacher. "Would anyone else like to try?"

Little Johnny raises his hand and stands to give his answer.

"Our next door neighbour was painting the front of his house using a 2 inch brush, and my dad said it would take the contagious."

@breakstuff. Love the Farside, had all the Gary Larson books at one time.

Me too @boogieman Don't know what I did with them all though.Larson is quite brilliant,very subtle and very dry but quite brilliant.

I used to have a huge Larson collection book, passed on to the kids and read so much it all fell apart. Little stories about how some of the cartoons came into being ( he knew penguins and polar bears don't live together!).

The Prehistory of the Farside ? I had that, really funny stuff. My daughter borrowed my collection of Farside books from me, promptly moved out of the house and left them all behind. My ex then donated them all to the charity shop. Grrrrr!

I think that was it. Some of the stuff about how they used his toons on greetings cards and got it wrong was interesting.
