Finally finished my AJA referee quiz thing.

Hoping I can get some paperwork done and prove that I know what I'm doing when I prance about the mat shouting random things in Japanese.

Much practicing and training has lead to today.

I am now a karate 4th kyu blue belt.

Made even better by the fact that I knackered my right hand on Monday so I couldn't punch properly, or even any of the (what felt like) 8 bazillion other types of strike I was required to demonstrate.

    Happy but very tired.

tiny green round things have appeared on the plants in my greenhouse. I hope they will grow up to be big red tomatoes.

the other plant has grown a small green chilli, which appears to have some younger brothers and sisters

Well about 23 years ago I left a band I'd been a key part of for about 7 years. We had some great times and did some great gigs, did the band van thing and it was pretty much our social world for that time. But all things come to an end and I was quite jaded by the end and saw no progression in the later stages.

Anyway the keys player reaches 50 on Monday and is having a party. None of the three drummers are available but singer, bass self and keys will do a 1 hour set to the guests in his back garden. Singer keys and self met last night and remembered 15 songs between us together with stops, fills, harmonies etc. The singer even remembered all the lyrics to most of the songs! It was pretty heady to be honest and I'm stoked about Saturday afternoons performance.

Song list for other 80s/90s era fans is:

Come back and Stay - Paul Young - Fm
    Park Life - Blur - F Sharp
    Sit Down - James - E
    Wonderwall - F sharp - Oasis
    Don’t Dream its over - Paul Young - C
Better be home soon - Crowded House - C
Crazy Little Thing called love - Queen - D
Is she really going out with him - JoeJ - C
    Lucky Man - verve - G
    Slight Return - Bluetones - D
    Don’t Look back in Anger - Oasis - C
Listen to the music - Doobies - D
So Tonight - Eagle Eyed Cherry - Am
Ed Sheehan - Thinking Out Loud - D
Fall at your feet - Crowded House - Cm
Long Train Running - Doobies - Gm
Saw her standing there - beatles - C
No particular place to go - ChuckB - G
    Friday I’m in love - Cure - D
    Crazy - Seal - Fm

All right some dross, but it will be a hoot.

I've just won two VIP tickets for RIAT. My son is very excited!
In other aircraft related news, a C17 go kart has just rolled out of our bay and will hopefully be on the Red Bull soapbox challenge on Dave at 6pm this Sunday.

@Deadman apart from an early start its been fantastic! Arrived by A400m with the Chief of Defence Materiel and the AOC and walked from the runway to the Airbus VIP paddock in front of thousands of adoring fans. Wandered off to have a look round the static displays, got a mosey in the cockpits of A400m, the new Hawk, Grob 120, Voyager and a few others.
The hog roast I had was delicious but steep at £7, cost near enough a tenner to eat from those food vans as a bottle of coke is £2.
Make sure that if the Chinook is displaying tomorrow (it should be really) that you see it. It was genuinely fantastic to watch, as was Vulcan and A400m. The Spitfires were something else...
16 aircraft in total in the sky. Spitfires, hurricanes, an ME109 and a Blenheim!
Fantastic to see near a squadrons worth of Spitfires and Hurricanes just purr through the sky in formation.
I'm on a MT bus back to Brize right now.
    Best RIAT ever.

Hope you and yours have fun tomorrow and this nice weather holds out, it's certainly going to be good seeing Vulcan. I'll have to admit to almost getting emotional after it's display.
Bring folding chairs if you need to, and spending money! Wonderland models had an excellent tent if that's your thing/maybe for your son.

What does your VIP ticket mean for you? I was hosted by Airbus and the Chalets are definitely the place to be for the displays.

    Have fun Dude,
    John

Sounds like a great day! Although I'm a regular visitor to Odiham so see the Chinook display team quite a bit. Amazing isn't it?
Tickets (direct from the RAF) put me in the red zone enclosure, with access to a marquee, next to the aviation club? Thanks for the tips ;)
