Fret work tools

I decided to take things into my own hands and to do the fret work on my tele neck. It is a allparts/ MJT neck and, as most of you know, the quality is there but it is rough finished when it comes to the frets.

I thing that there are a few frets standing too tall, around the 12th and 20th frets, as well as the fret edges which need to be sanded as well.

So, my first question is: should a completely inexperienced person even try this at all? If so, what tools will I need?

    Read up a bit first Melvyn Hyscock's book "Make your own electric guitar" is worth reading.
    It's best if you can have a go on an unimportant guitar. The main thing is take it slowly.

    Have a look at the links below it will give you some idea of whats involved on fretting a neck. If you do have ago at re-leveling your frets I would try on a old neck first if you can or find a fellow luthier to help you.

    Thanks guys. I do have a cheap unusable tele neck at hand to test my skills first. I will have a look at the links and see wether or not I think I cand do this.
