Hello! Been lurking around here for a while and picked up a good bit of useful info, so it's about time I gave it back! Q1: Where did you username come from? An old nickname from 6th form college, I never found out its origin but I've no doubt it was deeply offensive. Q2: Where in the world/country are you? North-west England. Snowy and cold. Q3: What's your main musical ambition? I used to have several. I learned to play in the late 80's and had ambitions. These days I make do with overusing pick slides and pinched harmonics. Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? My lovely old Strat. Japan-made '68 reissue, pencilled 1989 on the end of the neck under the nitro finish. A bit like Trigger's Broom these days, but still my single favourite possession in the world. Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one? Run-DMC and Aerosmith, Walk This Way. Every time.

Hi y'all - A quick introduction - 56 years young - been playing since 15 years old - recently retired College lecturer specialising in music technology & studio recording. Now working as a freelance music technology specialist & demonstrator. Those of you who visited the Thorpyfx stand at Birminghan guitar show may have seen me demonstrating those fabulous pedals for Thorpy & And I'm very proud to now be a “solder Jockey and guitar slinger' for thorpyfx!!! I also occasionally video edit 'That Pedal Show' for Dan Steinhardt @TheGigRig & also help man the tech helplines at GigRig when things get busy... Which is often! Some retirement eh?
    A belated welcome feller!

It was tricky prizing the Feline goldtop out of your talented mitts to try the 'Thorpies'.  I did manage, though, and, quite predictably, bought one...

Q3: My main musical ambition? Phew, what a question. To play is well as I can I guess. I have no illusions about playing like Clapton, or Peter Green, or even John Squire. I'd settle for being described as a bluesy player who plays with feeling.

Q4:  Too difficult....can I have two? My Rickenbacker 360 in Fireglow that I bought in 1997, inspired by The Bluetones. Currently, though, my 2001 Gibson Les Paul Standard in AA Cherry Sunburst. Lovely.

Glad to hear it.  I'm looking to be a bit more of a presence on the UK scene, and this forum looked like a good way to get involved.  If anybody wants to know anything about what I do then feel free to ask me.

    Thanks for the welcome @Moss.

Greetings @AdamTwinStomp - I don't actually own a Twin Stomp but I am a bit of an admirer, very few pedal makers seem to have given any thought to the form of effects pedals beyond A.N.Other box with fancy graphics whereas Twin Stomp seem to have thought about how people might actually use their products.  :)

It kind of occurred to me that I never ever posted in here. I joined ages ago. But sometimes I get random questions from people... so maybe this will clarify a few things haha.

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

    • It's the title of my favourite album by The Mars Volta. I wouldn't call them my favourite band, far from it! I just thought it was a cool word and I like that album.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    • Queensland, Australia. But I've lived in the UK also. Despite this and the similarities in the username, I'm no relation to octatonic.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

    • To be a better guitarist/bassist than I am and to one day own a '59 Les Paul haha.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

    • My Jet City amp :) It's very versatile.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

    • Changes all the time, but most recently and consistently it has been "Roaring Waters" by The Darkness.

Thanks @EricTheWeary. ; That's exactly where we've been coming from.  I've always been a reluctant pedal user.  Reluctant because I don't really like them, but often can't avoid having to use them.  Most of what I don't like about them are related to ergonomic issues and build quality, rather than the sound they make.  So we really looked to approach the "problem" of pedals from a mechanical design perspective.  I think they sound pretty good too though!
