I reamped and it worked!

Well, not with a mic.  Yet.  

Basically, I recorded a couple of my riffs via POD Studio dry, then sent it back into the amp.  The tone that came out was good - not noticeably any different from what comes from my guitar!

So that's good news.  I then recorded a tapped lead riff on top (I'm a Protest the Hero fan and I'm trying to branch out into more melodic but still thrashy stuff) which looked like it had a tiny output, but once it went into the amp, was fine.  

So, fingers crossed, it won't be long before I can upload a few things on here for you lot to look at and critique.

I did not, and to be honest, I didn't notice any - I was too proud that I'd navigated my way through technology.  

I don't think it's noticeable recording from guitar to PC, but I imagine there will be a wee bit for going from PC to amp to PC again.  How would one go about this compensation?

The latency would be awkward for me, too - one of my recent writings is a bridge and chorus which is a solid 185 bpm and uses 16ths, with a triplet tapped part on top.  

Latency could be pretty nasty
