She needs a lot of exercise.
    A lot.
Sounds like she needs to meet Sprocket.

Sprocket once exhausted 22 other dogs on one walk, and still wanted to play kickyball when she got home.
    For sure.
I've wanted to see your workshop for a while too.

Kudos to you for helping a rescue doggie win the canine lottery - which is what she has, getting you as parents.  She's one lucky pooch.

When Beans gets older, she'll show the same devotion and love and won't ask for anything in return.  When yours gets older, she'll cause you no end of worry, will go through a phase of hating you, will bleed you dry financially, scratch your car, then find some bloke and get married with a big ceremony that you'll be expected to pay for.

    She is settling in brilliantly.
We are mostly off leash now with her- at least not near roads.
Her recall is amazingly good- no matter how excited she is (which is usually a lot) she always stops what she is doing and comes straight to me.

We've stopped using her kennel name (actually we never really used it)- so Beans no longer, just Brienne or Brie for short.
She has adapted to it very well.

It's a great thing you have done there and I know you will have many years of happiness together.  :)

Ok so we are a week in.
We've had a few wobbles, a bit with her being ridiculously high energy and a bit with me realising that I probably wasn't completely over losing Scarlett 5 months ago but I think we are past that now.

She is a real sweetheart and just wants to please.
Took her up to the pub earlier tonight and one of the local farmers confirmed what I had been suspecting, that she isn't an American Bulldog at all.
She doesn't have any of the Am Bully traits.
She is much more Mastiff in how she comes across but also she has more energy than either of those breeds.

He said I should search for some Mastiff/Rhodesian Ridgeback crosses and compare them to her- apparently in the next village there is one and he said they could be twins.
So tonight I've been having a bit of a google and I'm 100% certain she is a Mastiff crossed with a Ridgeback.

Have a look at this video of a dog that is that cross:

    and these pictures:

and then compare it to my girl here:

    Pretty much bang on.
Also a comparison of her nature to typical Mastiff/Ridgeback crosses is spot on too.

Yep. I'd say you're 100% spot on there.

We were told that our newbie was lurcher/collie... hah. I think not. She's got lurcher in there for sure, but also German Shep, and we think some retriever as well.

Is she as quick as she sounds!?

@octatonic I would say you're bang on the money there!

Well, yes. We only got her home last night, and she is quicker off the mark than our Spanish greyhound - tho I bet she would have a higher top speed once she got going.

She is also a pretty impressive jumper!

Lurches, Greyhounds and whippets fortunately have a very lazy streak in them however if German Shepard is dominant then you'll have a very fast and very active dog.
Saying that I've a the most lazy German Shepard on earth in the past.

She's lively, there's no doubt about that - and she is still settling in so much exploring and developing a routine.

It will be interesting to see where the balance ends up!

Top speed is useless if you don't know how to control it :D

it's the reason our Springer can 'out run' most dogs, because her turns are ridiculously quick. Even the local whippets think they've caught her before she plants her leg and turns on a dime.

You should think about taking her to agility, they absolutely love it. I'll try and get a video up of Poppy doing hers.
