Clearly the original or new switch is haunted; you have either exorcised or possessed the pedal in the process of replacing the switch.

    Obvs really.
never occurred to me at all..
it's so clear now that you've pointed it out

I had a fuzz pedal that hadn't worked for years, sent it in the post to Owen Electronics for a fix (he asked "what exactly is the problem?" I said "When the pedal is engaged, it goes GRRRNNRRRRNNNNNNRRRRN and not in a good way")

By the time it arrived, he couldn't recreate the fault.

So clearly the Royal Mail has a positive effect on pedals.

I don't know, I find their work inconsistent, I got a DS1 from them that had noise in it that it shouldn't, maybe it was a bad run

Similar story. Years ago the MD's secretary used to moan All the time about the fact her room was too cold. Myself and another engineering grad made a few adjustments to the heating but she still complained.

having taken the temperatures in the room we then fitted a new thermostat in the room, slap bang in her eye line so she could turn up the heating to her hearts content. Lo and behold it worked and All the complaints stopped. What she didn't realise was that the thermostat was not connected to anything.....

back on topic, would gig levels vs bedroom levels account for any difference in the sound?

IME they're no more resilient than normal 3PDT (I've replaced broken ones). Alpha ones are about as good as you can get right now.

Mods were done for free so no issue there. Switch was replaced with an Alpha. But to be honest the existing generic switch had done 3 years of twice a week gigging, under the feet of a 17 stone man who doesn't step on pedals lightly when he's in full flow. I'd say it actually lasted longer than it had any right to.

The vast improvement he notes is probably due to the tone wood of his guitar ageing a little in the time you had the pedal, thereby becoming more 'resonant'.
